Divorce Grounds

Is legal separation in one state valid in another state?

I live in a state where there is no such thing as legal separation, but that is what I want. If we got a legal separation from CA where there is no residency requirement for separations, would we then be considered legally separated in our state?

  1. You probably need to move to that state and stay a year to file for settlement in that state. Each state carries out its own law and regulations, each counties has diffent regulations. You want which county which state settlement, you move there for a year before proceeding the settlement.
  2. It depends on where you reside as to the laws concerning dissolution or separation legalities as far as I know. Although I am no family law attorney, this is why you should contact one, because maybe this is your best idea?
  3. Try the site below, make sure to change the location/state in which you reside. Hope this helps.
